Lately, I’ve been daydreaming about any other job than architecture.  Admittedly, these fantasies should probably just be chalked up to ‘the grass is greener on the other side’ but here we go…

Over the weekend, I picked up a few beautiful modern chairs designed for the ’76 Montreal Olympics housing complex from a guy who sold them online/out of a Uhaul warehouse.  He initially established his business refinishing ’60s-’70s Danish modern furniture and selling them online. While treasure hunting at estate sales, it dawned on him that a lot of people need to unload their crap.  As they say, one’s man’s junk is another man’s treasure…and thus became his new business model: decluttering people’s homes, running estate sales, then staging the houses for sale.  Furniture in disrepair were taken back to his house, shown a little love and care then sold online! Voila.

Business without much overhead, liability and short turn around.  Perfect for those like me, with ADD!  Another source for distraction: http://www.theaccidentalcareer.com/
